Cars, Ubers and Other Ways to Get Around
Getting to the Basilica of Santa Quitéria de Meca is relatively straightforward, especially for those travelling from Lisbon or arriving via Humberto Delgado/Lisbon Airport.
The Basilica is located in the parish of Meca, within the municipality of Alenquer, approximately 50 km from Lisbon by road. Under normal traffic conditions, the journey takes between 40 and 50 minutes. However, it is worth bearing in mind that our wedding will take place on the last Friday before Christmas, one of the busiest periods on Portuguese roads.
For this reason, we strongly recommend allowing some extra travel time, particularly if you are travelling from Lisbon on the morning of the wedding.
Private or Rental Car
For those planning to explore the region or extend their stay in Portugal, this will likely be the most convenient option.
From central Lisbon: approximately 55 km / 60 minutes.
From Lisbon Airport: approximately 45 km / 40–60 minutes, depending on traffic.
Estimated travel cost: between €8 and €12, including fuel and tolls.
Uber, Bolt or Taxi
Uber and Bolt operate very reliably throughout the Lisbon region and are a practical option for those who prefer not to drive.

Naturally, these fares may vary depending on demand, the time of day and the proximity to Christmas, so we recommend budgeting for prices closer to the upper end of the range.
Train + Taxi
For the more adventurous, it is also possible to combine a train journey with a short taxi ride. While this option is certainly feasible, it is not necessarily the simplest choice for those travelling with luggage, wearing formal attire, or unfamiliar with the area. In our opinion, if you can avoid it, we would recommend doing so.
After the Party
One final suggestion: if you are considering returning to Lisbon after the party, we recommend planning that journey in advance.
After a full day, many hours of celebration, and an evening that we hope will only end with the last dance, we believe the most comfortable option is to avoid driving back. For those who do need to return that same night, we suggest using one of the available alternatives, such as Uber, Bolt, or a taxi, allowing for a safer and more relaxed journey.
That said, for those who can and wish to do so, staying near the venue on the night of 18–19 December seems to us the ideal option. Not only does it avoid late-night travel, but it also allows you to fully enjoy the celebration, the time together, and all the moments we hope to share with you.
